Day 5
After an early morning breakfast, you will get into our 4WD's and drive to Ngorongoro Crater, a World Heritage Site. Once you have reached the crater floor you might see some of the last Black Rhinos in Tanzania together with elephants and lions. This is the largest non-flooded crater in the world with a diameter of approximately 20km (ca. 13 miles). The crater is at times home to almost 20,000 animals. A bit tired but happy, you will drive up to the crater rim (2500 m a. S. L.) where you will spend the night at the Ngorongoro Serena Safari Lodge. L/D/BB

Day 6-7-8
After leaving the crater rim you will be driven towards the southern Serengeti. During driving down the Malangja Depression, you will notice the change in vegetation and climate. On the way to Serengeti 160 km (4-5 hrs) we will pass through "the origin of mankind", the Olduvai Gorge. Here Louis Leakey discovered the oldest human skull, which is more than 1.75 million years old. First Serengeti game will be sighted on your way to the Serena Serengeti Lodge. During those three days you will have enough time to explore various different kopjes (stone outcroppings appearing like islands on the plains), where you might spot lions. Also, you will keep your eyes "peeled" for a cheetah in the distance on the plains. There will be opportunities to spot hippos in and close to the Seronera River and with a large amount of luck you might even see a leopard in one of the trees growing along one of the rivers.
Lodging: Serengeti Serena Safari Lodge . L/D/BB

Day 9-10-11
After breakfast you will once more put your baggage into the cars and drive off to the next destination: the western Serengeti where you will be accommodated for the next three nights at the Serena Kirawira tented camp. One of the main features in this area is the Grumeti River, which is home to some of the largest crocodiles in Tanzania.
You will explore this area for the next three days and will with a little luck see the annual migration of the gnus and zebras on their way towards the Grumeti controlled area. The migration of the gnus and zebras very much depends on weather patterns. Therefore if it had not rained where it should have, they might be somewhere else in the Serengeti.
Lodging: Kirawira Luxury Tented Camp.
